Well Raye it seems things just go on in the same old way I noticed today that the big guys in the big firms are receiving 50 percent increases. The health-care is staggering from one crisis to the next. I guess it is the same in most countries, we have good treatment if one can manage to be admitted. Hope that you feel a bit easier.

Re: well I don't understand US politics...the more I try the more confused

This is a federal law or I guess it will be "was." It mandated a low percent of taxes be taken out of checks cut to contractors who did work for the government. Because so many of them were not paying any taxes on their earnings and breaking the law. Yes, lawbreakers reigned in to a small degree (The majority of Americans have taxes taken out of their paychecks every pay period and ignoring the chore of doing your taxes is inviting a bunch of trouble with the Internal Revenue System) Obviously though, not everyone is held to the law; if you can make big contributions and afford lobbyists, you're in the clear..
Medicaid is a health care program for low income folks. Not completely free health care, but extremely affordable for those who qualify. In my state, those requirements have tightened to the point of no return. If you have over $50.00 in income per week, regardless of family size, you don't qualify. Unbelievable huh? Anyway, according to this article, the monies lost to the government by doing away with this law will be made up by even further cuts to federal funding of Medicaid. Sounds like it will be completely dismantled..

Thanks for reading, Dear Kabu.
