before retiring a little over a year ago...I worked in a small group home with 5 men, all physically (cerebral palsy) and emotionally disabled...these men needed 24/7 assistance, only one was verbal, all were in wheelchairs...BUT they were/are still very much human and possess all the emotions a "normal" person does....

I have worked with the disabled for many years and have many friends in wheelchairs, when we meet by chance out-and-about we talk for hours and some still come to my house to get their vans repaired...good poem expressed brilliantly.

So well put Lori.  I often have these same feelings myself.  I don't believe most people mean to behave in this way or to be unkind, but they will never really understand what we go through every day.

Still, the world is full of wonderful people!
