Dick Armey was asked what he would cut out of non-entitlement spending (by the way, entitlement programs are those that people have paid into, via taxes taken from their paychecks, therefore
entitling them to tap into the programs at retirement or in the case of disability) - he said he would eliminate NPR, another
small ticket item like the one you mention here.
...akin to switching from name brand coffee, tea and kool-aid to generic in an effort to pay a ten thousand dollar mortgage - why won't conservatives look at the
big ticket items, such as the bloated defense budget and corporate subsidies that do nothing to create jobs or stimulate the economy?
Also, where has it been stated that if the U.S. defaults and does not pay it's bills, these programs will continue to be funded?? My guess would be nowhere...
