VICKI - hmmm - I am with you darlin'.  I think sometimes how my Grandchildren are on the Northwest and Northeast Coasts and I simply simply wonder now why - but, India?  oh my.  Oh bless you - All I can do is hold you in my  and lovingly pat your shoulders ((Vicki)) because I find being a parent sometimes we just have to enlarge our hearts all the more to acceptance.  Wow, let us know ~ (she's to be commended for her loving and moral convictions) - C Elyse xoxox

Re: You are right, of course. I should just tell her I am happy for her.
...and when lightening strikes and I'm just a small pile of ash............  It's so hard to be unselfish in this situation.  Very, very, hard.  The bright side is it's not the Congo in Africa, which is where she wanted to go for years!  I also feel strongly there are plenty of people right here in the US that could use their work and testimony.

It sounds like you have every reason to be proud of her.  But, that only makes it more difficult, doesn't it.  How hard it is to force ourselves to be happy with their decisions.

My heart goes out to you Vicky... It must be horrible to see someone one loves go so far away... but she must go where her heart leads her and all we can do as parents is to make them know that we will always be here for them ((((Vicky)))))))

When my son in law made a job change that involved a move overseas

to Singapore, he asked if I was mad at him for taking her so far away.  I said, "Heck no, I plan to visit you!"  And I did... fantastic experiences!  And he used frequent flyer miles to get me there, and to NZ twice, where they live now.

Nooooooooo, I'm not that noble. I want her to stay in the states.
You can't smell a baby's neck on skype!!  I can't spoil a baby through email!!  I can't make the baby mama crazy with loud toys from across the world - where would the instant gratification for me be??  She was in Dubai and Bahrain for five years.  I've had it lol  HAD IT.  Obviously that means nothing to her.  :(

Thanks for the words of encouragement though

They fly the coup...which isn't much help to how you feel right now.
Join the club darling...proud parents but left way behind!

She's right, of course. It's her thread to follow through the tapestry.
But it's a small world these days -- if/when you have grandkids, you can see them on Skype or fly over for a real hug. Mama always said it was a mother's job to raise her kids so that they don't need her. Looks like you've done it. (And yes, I know it's the toughest thing to do, letting go. She'll be okay. So will you.)

A wonderful human being indeed!
Your well deserved pride shines through the distance/travel inconvenience. I wish her and her love all the best.

O my! She does make decisions that give you fits! I am not surprised that your grandchildren would be in India; I know of no one who would love a grandchild more than you and the irony of it all is right before your eyes! I am happy she is in love, but dang, India-na would have been a bit closer to home! I've always wanted to go to India, I'll make the trip with you! lol sammie
