Summer is right upon us isn't it Marissa - we're having such heat already and I'm needing to rush this planting business up more quickly...so while I plant I think of much and see much while all nature plays with me...including the water hose and sprinklers.  Life is good and thank you much for your read and comments, always... Re:
YUM Lavender is so beautiful and yes aromatic and the butterflies and bees will adore it...beautiful.  I enjoyed watching the mockingbirds pull at my petunia heads the other sunset.  They must be carrying them off for a nest? or to eat?  I'm not sure but it was fun to watch.  It's good to have a hobby or two or many dear Shelly, as you wait and know that I think and pray for you all ~ C Elyse

Re:
ChCh - it's been a sad sorta ordeal for me having to come to grips with losing some perenniels but I'm determined to keep at the gardens...no matter containers but, I really do think that roses will do fine as well as succulents and sages - Right now, it's so hot and drought like that my snaps have gone to waste and a few others--- how odd that some turned white? the carrots?  But yes, you would know the frustration ~ E.E.

Oh do share what you do Kabuski --- I love ideas as well ~ And you know, i noticed some bumble bees dying in my hill country gardens... that made me sad, however, the big ones like you say - as large as humming birds --- LOL, well they are buzzing here around my lavender and sage bushes...I love them, they're cute! ~ Connie Elyse xoxo

Re: Garden sweet as honey...
Yes Bill, with the record breaking heat here already and drought pattern, it's best containers - and I'm starting to think succulents, cacti and sage bushes always do well as well as Roses actually --- it's all about being innovative, creative ~ isn't it?  Elyse

Re:
I tell you TAPS, it's been a grueling week of heat here and I'm so sore and actually torn up from all the gardening endeavors but yes, as I accomplish (and I have several more days I think of just the planting still ) I truly enjoy the fruits of the labor.  Elyse

I like to plant with a purpose, too! An aromatic garden does scream for the summer! This year I am planting to attract butterflies and hummingbirds! While lavender greets my guests at the front door! This was a splendid post! And I am doing fairly well these days! Mainly I pass the time in my flowers while I await for Christopher's deployment to Afghanistan to be over and he's home safe and sound! Shelly

EE. I think firstly you are an artist It must be distressing to see your mind picture not conforming  when stressed by the wind and the irregularities of nature. Never mind a new picture takes shape and one can always work around it. Dman is a craftsman as well I can see he will have lots to do in your future garden. Once I grew rows and rows of carrots for sale and most of them were white it was most frustrating pulling them up for compost
