The GDP Con...
...must be one of the biggest foisted on the public in the entire history of economics. I wonder if anyone has done the GDP exercise and split the outputs into two parts - those that are negative, such as the ones you cite, and those that actually can be called growth?

It's like the GDP here in America, Damon. Republinazis love pointing to the GDP as "evidence" that Bush's economic plan is working. Right.
The GDP is an absolute measure of the country's total economic output. But it measures things like hurricane damage (Isabella, for example) and forest fires (California's, for another) as POSITIVE. If you factor out the disasters, Bush's "recovery" suddenly disappears.
Teachers already make nothing in the UK. I can't imagine what they're thinking these days....
