true it is not necessarily religion that is the problem but rather zealots
there are varying forms of abuse in every religious culture. The women, it seems, always manage to get the dirty end of the stick.

The only `gift` we have, as a species, is conscience. Unfortunately conscience is insufficient in protecting us from our natural instinct to survive as an individual, no matter what culture/religion we happen to be born into, Hence, `Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.` If spirit/science, can come up with a genetic answer to this fundamental paradox we might have a chance.
