Your writing is fascinating. 
Once one begins, you definitely hold the reader until the end.

I remember the bouts with those when my daughter was young! We had a neighbor who never did a full treatment and they kept reinfecting her and I had to forbid her to play with them! Such an ordeal! You make a good point on the Japanese; dignity is commendable but beneath it all live have been shredded! sam

I've heard of getting your ducks in a row,
and Duck! because something's coming at you, and ducks flying in V formation to take advantage of the front one's windstream. But I've never heard of letting them out the gate. Good analogy. Great idea!
