It's kind of interesting that you should mention being an enabler. He now lives with his parents and I talk about to my family how they enable him all the time, which they do in many ways. I never really saw it as me being an enabler even though I have told him a few times that I feel like I am hindering his progress, which I do. Now that you mention it and now that I really think about it, yeah you are exactly right, that's where this whole thing was going. I am so glad I finally found the courage to do this which I have been trying to do the past 3 months and walk away from the situation.
As far as moving to a warmer climate, I will be once I finish up my degree here. I only have a little over a year left and don't want to just up and move in the middle of all of my classes. I will suck it up one more winter up here and then I will be gone from the midwest other than to come back a few times a year to visit. Thank you for the warm and heartfelt comment!
