When I got here (Canada) at first I couldn't believe how hot it was and when the winter descended it froze my tootsies, to mention a few appendages. Scotland used to have winters but not as bad as this. As you say majroj the Gulf Stream keeps the UK from being a North Sea Icicle. Believe it or not but there are palm trees on the North West coast of Scotland. They pump up their own oil from the North Sea - we're no' daft Pal.

Reminds me of Nebraska.
When I moved back to Calif. it took me two years to finally give up the snowshovel.
The so-called (by England) British Isles depend upon ocean currents to stay out of the Ice Age; these selfsame current are being disrupted by freshwater barreling south off melting polar snowcaps and glaciers. Tell 'em to "hang onto their butts" , as they said in Jurassic Park (the movie), and buy petroleum futures.

Andy was funny, sam, and that is what it is like over there. It was hilarious that the county's snow fighting equipment had rusted up.

It's a magical country to live in jollyjeff. Lots of Canadians flee south in winter time - the 'snowbirds', but they miss the enchantment of the season.

And one thing you can be sure of Pat, there is definitely snow in Canada. There wasn't as much as advertised, but the wind whipped it into dramatic drifts.

I've never seen a storm quite like the one that is moving across the US, strange times indeed! One thing is certain, spring begins next month and I am ready! Too funny on the write by your pal! sam

Ah, well. If there's snow in Canada in February
then all's right with the world. Love the letter from Scotland and the whole what's the problem tone of it. It translates perfectly into what Midwesterners say about folks in the deep south who lose all rationality in the face of an inch of snow. Cheers.
