Sam...

If you Google Nathan Woods, you will see the story there.  We did know him, he raced in the since disbanded 4-stroke national series.  One round in Spokane, he was going to let my son, also Nathan ride his backup bike, a 450 in one race.  Mom and I nixed that, we didn't want to risk something happening to his backup bike since he was making his living racing.  At another race in Oregon, my son crashed badly, he was in better shape than the bike, but his day was over before it started, we couldn't fix the bike.  He found Nathan Woods in the pits and started talking to him, ended up being his mechanic and taking his girl-friends place on the pit-board duties.  We shared our lunches with them and it was a good day.  Later he would contest the WORC series and become it's winningest rider.

So when I saw the e-mail this morning, I had a sense of dread, it's too early in the season for him to have won another championship in the WORC series.  He left behind a wife and 2 children.  A cruel blow indeed.
