Macnab, when almost everyone has to break line to get what they need...
...then those who would be civilized are left behind.
We take "civilization" for granted, just as we do many other things we don't see in person frequently.

'Tuf Voyaging' sounds interesting, majroj - I'll look out for it at Coles. There have been a few stories in the newspapers lately about the aid that was sent to Haiti after the earthquake. Apparently half of it is still sitting at the docks waiting for 'official' documentation and God knows where the rest of it went.
One of the stories was about prefabricated homes, 10,000 of which were supposed to be shipped but so far just over 300 have been erected.

Workers are being attacked because some Haitians think they carry cholera.
The descent into mob violence is swifter in some places than other, but after the Third Reich, we know that no people is immune.
