Your honesty and insight into human nature and the need to protect those we love and secure one's freedom is very well expressed.  I especially like the idea of finding a way to simply separate those "kids" who cannot play well together.  Wish there was a simple answer.  Nice to be reading your posts again (for however short a time it may be).

interesting how you view war and peace. I see it a bit differently
however, I too would like to see peace and pray for peace on earth, and believe that one day there will be peace. Although right now, it doesnt look so great. I am against war too, so we do have a lot in common :)

Your last lines
are particularly apt. I have the wisdom to know there are many things in my sister's family that I cannot change, including my sister. Distance is probably the best policy. Hope you're having a great celebratory weekend

This world is not good enough for pacifists to solve it's problems, unfortunately.  That is for heaven. Those who suffer injury or die to preserve freedoms should be honored.  Citizens in regimes  live hard, oppressive lives.

Great post, Kabu. War wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the "We want what you got" attitude of governments, but it has been going on forever in one part of the world or another. Human nature, unfortunately. Love the image of you standing there ready to defend your baby, LOL!

Kabu
I have missed you and your posts.... I agree with you that nothing will harm mine while there is a dab of brain and brawn in my body on any level.

those people who have dies defending their homes and loved ones have my unending sorrow and respect.  I also try to reach out to those people who died trying to take from others because their governments told them that was the right thing to do, but I have more trouble with that even if I know logically that they are as much victims as anyone else.

I think that separating peoples would be easy if we could just disarm the dangerous lunatics that are our governments and corporations

Kabu, this is a thought-provoking remembrance and self-introspection

Kabu

Never feel bad that your first instinct was to protect that baby.  Most of us prefer not to use violence and in cases of home invasion often just the belief that someone is willing to use deadly force to protect will chase a prowler away.  You did what a Mama does, you protected your young.

As for war...I hate it, I wish there was no need and I pray the day will come that we can all simply live in peace.

You're so right about the maternal instinct.

You know, Grandmummy...my Djeda(Grandfather) from Bosnia always used to say that all wars begin because people want each other's dirt.  He's so right!...

Kabu

Well put, and I agree completely! I have no problem with anyone's belief, as long as he doesn't want to force it upon me...And yes, neither do I have a problem with defending myself when I am attacked!

For me Clausewitz' principle still holds: avoid war by all means possible, but when forced to fight, fight to win...

It is funny how people change Kabu even the mildest person can push that side of the brain out of the way and think how to repel invaders with extreme force. Perhaps in many generations time we shall achieve a peace state of existence. It has been a heavy penalty for many famlies to have borne really tragic.
