Kabu, people that fire off their weapons indiscriminately like
your neighbour's been doing should have their guns taken away...guns are not toys....hopefully no one gets injured by some careless accident......

If it wasn't for the tasty tasty meat I would gladly be vegetarian but I am reliably informed that all shop bought meat is from animals that dies peacefully in their sleep after a long happy life and willed their bodies to fine cuisine...

we raised show rabbits and when a rabbit had finished its prime or didnt make it to be a show rabbit it was put in the freezer, I couldnt stand the fact my husband would kill and skin them

You reminded me of the funniest episode, only it definitely was not funny at the time.  I think it is too long for here, so I will have to tell it as a post.

And before I forget...
The meat we buy in the supermarket doesn't actually come from animals at all, it's grown on trees...

Kabu
Yeah well, I used to hunt, but no longer do. I no longer wanted to kill little (or big) critters either, but of course I would never want to prevent others from hunting. Especially since I know hunting is often of great benefit, if not necessarily to the animal actually being shot, LOL, but to the species as a whole...

I would not be comfortable living next to a neighbor who hunted in his yard either. Hopefully he is not constantly doing it...Thankfully for here (not sure about your situation) the hunting seasons are rather short.

Kabuiepie-;)
I agree, the guy next door is dangerous but it's hunting season and he's on his own acreage. I don't know how he managed to get a weapons license being bi-polar and all so I guess your name "cove" (Hoodlum) in Canuck speak, is apt for him. Great post love.

Hunting for food is justifiable, hunting for pleasure is not. I'm not vegetarian, so yes, I do eat meat and don't apologize for it. Therefore, I don't get more emotional eating venison than I would eating lamb chops, hamburgers or roast chicken.

I have made a wonderful rub for venison it is at least a meal a week at our house.

I don't like killing for sport Kabu I suppose if one lives off of the land there is not much option. Just keep your head down and that's all you can do.

Kabu - There are regulations here that say one cannot hunt around residences. Is it not the same in Ontario? If so, your neighbour is breaking the law. Even though my youngest is an avid hunter, I hate the thought of killing an animal too, and don't allow anyone to hunt around my property.

I hope the snow moves the hunters indoors...
I've had several debates with hunters, who got thoroughly ticked off at me because I said it was unfair for them to be shooting at anything that can't shoot back. It wasn't like they needed the meat to survive. I'm in your corner on this one, Kabu.

Can't you make a complaint with the local authorities?
Hunters are not above the law and good hunters consider the safety of others FIRST!

 Bambi asks...

Awww Dear Kabuski ~ yes it is that season.  I recall when I worked with a rancher out in Fredericksburg how I would wear the bright orange so the hunters all around his fields would spot me...I hoped...it made me too nervous.  I never liked it either - understanding the need for this and that however, it did simply break my heart.  Now, the danger involved is horrendous and I understand your concerns.  I wish there would be a law of sorts to contain the firing of arms way within miles away of people and society.  I just think it should be like that.   (duh common sense to me)

I digress but we had a neighbor here who was angry at the wolves and coyotes coming in and eating the kitties 'round our area here.  Okay so he took up a vigilante stance and decided he'd do away with the pack ~ well --- I was walking my golden retriever Rhett one foggy morning...I heard the click --- I turned around first in horror but then in anger and I yelled, "You had better put that d--- gun down" and then I rushed Rhett back indoors and we had a talk this neighbor and I...He was in grief for his loss but, I was miffed because of the precious lives he almost took due to his being just a titch, 'out of touch' ~ he had problems and soon it unfolded - first his wife left - then he was gone within weeks.  You never know who is wielding a weapon.  YIiii ~

You rant darlin' and hope they hear.  I do and Love you ~ C Elyse
