The main treatments for gout are dieting and excercising

I like your style, Taps.  You have me grinning like a pooch here.  Now...how can I play it for all its worth?

Re: johnmacnab
I think it will go away whether you ignore it or not, so you might as well play it for all it's worth and get a lot of mileage out of it.

Luckily it is my left wrist Taps, and I use the mouse with my right hand.  I'm hoping it is the only attack as well, but my wrist still has twinges.  If I ignore it do you think it will go away?

It must be painful for you to use your keyboard and mouse.  Hopefully this will be the only gout attack you ever have.  Once is quite enough.

What a horrifying thought majroj!  In my young days I used to be legless often, but to be 'armless at this stage in my life would mean I couldn't give the finger to other drivers, the way that old coots are supposed to.   Where's that duct tape?

That's what my auctioneering buddy told me last Monday.  It took a few days for the swelling to go down, but by the end of the week my wrist was back to normal - however, since then, when grass cutting or weed-whacking I wear a wrist support.   Thanks majroj.

Yes there is a treatment.

Besides Indocin. Drink loads of water and keep it up. Uric acid is eliminated via kidneys. I was tagged with it two years ago, and whenever I get a twinge I flood the water. No more recurrencs. The wrist is not common for this.

Assuming they made a good diagnosis. If those symptoms don't respond in a fe days or it gets worse, get thee back.

It won't be long before I stop weeding Pat.  The leaves on the poplars are turning already.  I've got to the stage where I quite like weeding - it is a great excuse for not writing, and I don't feel too guilty about it.

That's interesting northsage.  Ell drinks gallons of cranberry & cherry juice because she likes it, and I'm not averse to it myself.  It is worth a try.

Not yet dsm, but I will be doing so now that I've read your comment.  I'm telling myself that it is only tendinitis, not gout, but then I'm good at pretending.  I was speaking to a friend at the auction and he was rubbing his wrist and taking Tylenol.  He explained 'too much lobster and the gout is back - now I'm drinking lots and lots of water.'

Or, maybe you could stop weeding.

The juice in cherries & cranberries calms gout, Johnnie. Worth a try?

johnmcnab,  hey, kingmi here.  Now have you googled natural foods that promote anti-inflammation?
