Precious lesson..
I didn't have a long memory of my grandparents.. but I can see similar values taught to my children by their grandparents and I truly wish they would be around for a long time so that my children won't miss out on their valuable teaching..

It's too bad more kids today don't have grandmas like yours.
The practice of keeping grandparents out of the "nuclear" family and putting the kids in day care seems a bit contrary to their long-term interest. Moms just begin to get the hang of how to deal with kids when theirs move out and start their own family. If grandmas and grandpas didn't tell the young ones the family stories, how will they know who they are?

Good post.  My fourth and youngest son was definitely the baby of the family and sucked his thumb until he was seven.  LOL.  When he didn't want to do something, he would whine, "I'm too little!"  No amount of telling him otherwise helped, so I finally just started saying "OK" and then getting one of the other boys to do his work.  Then everytime he wanted to go somewhere or do something, I would say sadly, "No, I'm sorry but you're too little."  He got "big and able" pretty quickly after that.
