Disasters of any kind represent a fast sudden change in your life. Praying in a dream shows you are refining your own awareness, getting clear on your goals, needs and wants. Its also a need for more spiritual time in your life; communion with higher self. A hug is a sign of comfort, loving and nurturing oneself, healing. The car spinning in circles is a sign that you are not getting on with your life and lessons; you literally are going around in circles. Friends is a quality you see in a friend that is a projected quality that you see in your own self. Rape in a dream is a sign that you are losing energy, allowing someone's negative energy to take your power and self-esteem. War means fighting within self; rejecting parts of self. Meditation is needed. Hope this makes sense to you.

Dreams are supposed to be your brain's way of clearing the clutter
as my psychology textbook put it (though it did so in a far more scientific fashion). So that would account for why sometimes your dreams are so strange because your brain ahs taken a sequnece of events or things you have seen even though you might not have acknowledged seeing them and use them in a dream to freak you out. Psychology mumbo chumbo aside though, I do believe that sometimes dreams can be prophetic, but I am not qualified to analysis...

My daughter has a special talent in this area, but from time to time, I can tell the meaning of a dream. Actually, it is God who gives the interpretation. (See Genesis 41:16) Anyway, (and assuming you have eliminated the commons causes for weird dreams like violent tv shows or alot of spicy food), here goes:
The first three twisters are 3 days, or possibly 3 weeks or even 3 months. They represent some sort of harm that is apparently coming our way from terrorists. It's a national threat like 9-11 was. The war ships coming from out to sea could mean a terrorist strike from the Atlantic toward the east coast. DC is there, you know, though it is better protected now than it was before 9-11.
Your dream was sent as a warning and you realized that in the dream when you attempted to warn everyone to hide. If this truly is a prophetic dream about some future terrorist threat, then you can be certain that many others with that type of "gift" have also had the same dream. Maybe we'll hear something on tv from one of them.
