You've my admiration. Raising a child is NEVER easy, you must be a NATURAL!
I agree with Willie Shakespeare, that a thankless child is "Sharper than a serpent's tooth!" My own son turned out to be a paranoid schizophrenic, with a sociopathic personality and severe mental and dependancy issues, regarding women, despite my best efforts to be a good and loving parent. Some heroic efforts are just destined to be wasted, and the sooner one learns to accept this, the better.
In order to maintain my own mental health, I have sorrowfully cut nearly all of my ties to him, and long ago very happily cut every tie, with his other parent. (She has not earned the title of "parent") I knew early on, that she should NEVER, NEVER, become anyone's parent, but a determined woman, happily giving in to unrestrained hubris and resentment of her own mental issues (schizophrenia,) can rationalize behavior that would shame a normal person. I'd better stop thinking about my own history, or I will become very angry, and unfit to be around.

Be well, stay well, and keep writing, my friend!
