I believe in order to have any kind of serenity, you first must have

I love how he puts gratitude to words,
"As bad as things are, if we can find something to be grateful for, we then we have spent the lonely self-pitying minutes in positive endeavor".
My favorite gratitude-related quote that never fail to make my day is from Oprah.
"Be thankful for what you have, you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never ever have enough".
