Inkling, thanks for caring. She has valid points, and I only wish her the

best.  I'm just tired of getting her nasty emails.

Ariala and Unicorn
I hate to see this rift between you, since I know that both of you are believers.  I really don't think you're on such opposite poles--it has more to do with communication.  I should know since I've failed so miserably at it many times--coming off quite judgmentally myself, acting as other people's personal holy spirit--when I should have either said nothing or confronted the other person in a loving way.  Email can come off as particularly impersonal and judgemental.  I hope you are able to work this out.

Unicorn, you're not the only one who serves God, just know that. People in
all religions, and among all faiths serve God the best they can.  I'm for the underdog because we continually get misjudged and criticized.  I'm sorry you feel attacked.  I was just stating my opinions, as everyone does on here.  You are free to think I'm not a Christian because I associate and talk about New Agers, Pagans and Eastern philosophies.  Like I said God knows my heart, and I just want Christians to be more careful as to how they approach others, including Christians they disagree with.

Unicorn, I am not attacking you. Im sorry.

my point is, you
don't know me or understand me ither. Don't pass judgement on me. My heart is totally devoted to God and the people I witness to are in "no danger". I'm very insulted and hurt by your attack on me. But whatever, I should have expected no less.

maybe you don't understand
"said blogger"??? Could it be that you are jumping to the wrong judgement of her? But you are right, said blogger should shake the dust off and move along, not reading your blogs anymore.

Skidd, even people in mainstream Christianity make their belief
systems a cult at times.  Hey, that's fine, people are free to believe what they want to believe, but they really need to watch their step around others.  That's my main contention with these groups...they are pushy, judgmental and "elite."  Not for me, thank you.  Thanks, Skidd for your comments!

Moonwind, thanks for your kind and wise words. I need to press the

Warrior, yes, I've seen you get attack so I know you understand. I think
you have the right attitude of not letting it upset you.  People have personalities and attitudes that they bring to Christianity and often times they are very non-Christian in their approach to others.  I can't help but say it STILL freaks me out after all these years.  Guess I'll never get used to it.

Ariala, I Hope This Provides You With Some Consolation: I Am A Christian &

I get attacked by other Christians nearly everday, because they consider me to be a "bad Christian" who does not lead a "holy life."

But that evaluation does not upset me one bit. And that is because I know that their critical views of me do not stem from the religion of Christianity itself, but from the flawed, confused and sanctimonious individuals who make up a large segment of the so-called Christian community.

And so far as that goes, a considerable number of non-Christians frequently criticize other non-Christians for not being "non-Christian enough";  left-wingers often accuse other left-wingers of being "too far to the right" in various aspects of their thinking and behavior;  vegetarians often criticize those vegetarians who consume dairy products;  the hearing impaired (the deaf) frequently criticize those hearing-impaired people who have surgeries and implants that help them to gain the sense of hearing;  and I could go on.

Those are all examples of sanctimony; a human quality that drives or prompts many individuals to believe that they are a cut above nearly every one else.

Ariala..

We are always being tested in our faith. If someone asks, inwhich they have, I tell them what religion I am. If they want to judge me for that, they must feel they are Jesus, because as I believe, HE is the only judge WE have to worry about. Don't let this upset you,(I know, its too late..lol), because even Jesus was criticised, and people were "Closed minded" as to anything he had to say. But, Jesus didnt spend alot of time with "Those People", He spent time with those who "Were Interested".  I too suggest, you just ignore anyone who isnt willing to lisson and reason on your answers to questions they asked to begin with. Many times I have been approached with a question or 10 all at a time when I couldnt answer it, or wouldnt and they knew it, So, I'd say to them, if you would really like to know, I'd be happy to spend some time with you at such and such a time, and I'd be happy to answer ALL your questions. I didnt hear from them again. So, its determining if they REALLY want the answers or if they are just trying to get you frustrated and make a fool out of you. And if thats their actual intent, then you are ALL THE BETTER PERSON. Move on dear Ariala... as Jesus did....(Geeeez...I should of written a dang blog!!!)...lol

Ariala

You receive a lot of flack from every corner of the BN because you're just so darn popular!  Yeppers, you are.  Being in your position must be taxing at times.  I know that you know this, but I'll just say it to maybe reinforce your sane state of mind.  A stunningly high percentage of your readers actually LIKE you.  RESPECT your views.  ENJOY your posts.  Believe it, 'cause it's true, you writing machine.

As for this person, who knows if she's even a Christian.  There are Christian cults all over the United States.  My brother was in one for about two years.  Finally came to his senses when enough of his friends and family slapped him across his flawed reasoning to the point where he realized that what he was learning--and practicing--wasn't Christian at all.  He got out, thank God.

His cult didn't believe in the Old Testament.  Huh??  And you're a Christian?  Jesus stated in his Sermon On The Mound that the Old Testament did happen, and it's laws would always be inforced.   This cult was also VERY judgemental.  My brother was hard to be around for long periods of time.

That's my two cents!  Hey, and thanks for taking the brunt of pea-brained finger wagging from narrow minded individuals from the rest of us struggling, Jesus minding Christians.  I'll pray for your well being tonight.  :)

katray, yes I can tell you've been there, too. Tuning them out is exactly
what needs to be done.  Hard to do, for sure! I must seek Merlin's help! LOL  Oh oh, more Paganism! hehehe

posted by Ariala on December 7, 2003 at 9:57 PM | link to this | reply

In my experience
all you can do is tune them out completely. I've been around fundamentalist types; even had some in my family and you simply are not "right" until you agree totally with them. I've seen and heard real horror stories about what their beliefs spawn, terrorized children, homosexual bashing to the point of violence. In their milder periods, they will bluntly label you a non-believer, being seduced by the devil, and a false follower if you express any acceptance, tolerance, kindness and/or difference to that which they rail against. As you so eloquently stated. Sorry for the rant here, I just get so wound up by these extremists. I've been a victim too, can you tell?

BrW, I will continue to use my elbows in the dirty work. I won't let
the fearful keep me from searching out the mysteries of the universe.  What's really funny to me is the thought that one day when all is revealed, these closed-minded people will see that God and the universe were much more like what the New Agers and Bhuddists believed (in terms of Quantum reality) than these others imagined.

It is very cool, indeed!

How can God not be about science, if He is the creation? We really need to reconcile science and theology, and soon. I think the world can do it. We'll just need to apply some elbow grease.

BrW, yes it is intriguing, but frustrating. They don't "get" the quantum
physics connection at all.  This is the problem.  God gave us a brain to use, but they want us to get a lobotomy.  This form of religion sucks.  I will go read your blogs now.  Thanks so much for your continued support and understanding.  I know you and I agree on the scientific/theological aspect of things.  That's so cool!

posted by Ariala on December 7, 2003 at 9:43 PM | link to this | reply

I know exactly what you're talking about.

The pagan connection is worthy of mention, and I commend you for broaching it. So is the whole connection with quantum physics. You and I share many beliefs about Christianity.

I could go into a big explanation but, instead, I urge you to visit my blog postings from today. Some Christians much like the one you describe tried to call me a non-Christian today. They told me that my heart-felt prayer was a mockery of prayer. Yet I prayed as I often pray. It wasn't pretty and nice and all polite and such, but who cares? God gets impatient with those who se prayer with Him as something that requires pomp and circumstance. And besides, how could I be mocking myself or prayer, if it was the Holy Spirit that led me to pray in this way? I was miffed, to say the least.

It was comforting, though, that some of the people who do not necessarily consider themselves Christians but, nonetheless, live their lives as Jesus did His, understood my posts and even thought my writings were indicative of a true Christian.

It's all so intriguing. Wouldn't you agree?

ohB, yes, I know they mean well and I do forgive them, but I really worry
about their "witness" and the way they treat "unbelievers."  I sure appreciate your comment and reminder.  Thank you, my friend.

Wonky, thank you...that means a lot to me. I am very sensitive these days

when Christians attack me because it has happened one too many times.  It breaks my heart because Christians are supposed to be the loving ones, yet I feel more love from outside this "CULT" they've created, than I do inside their stained-glass window, blood-stained buildings.

Hmm... glad I'm not on the receiving end of that talk this time around.    Don't let anyone shake your beliefs.  And you know what, don't just write off that blogger either.  I'm sure he or she is just trying to do the right thing in his/her own way.  Be a good example and forgive "said blogger."

it's weird that they seem to go after you so much more than they go after declared non-christians.  it's like they don't believe you...i find it all very odd...just know that wonky thinks you're one of the truest "christians" in her acquaintance.
