I like your last two sentences. That they use this argument against legalisation is absurd when we realize how many indeed use it. These users have, in fact, used it for millennia.

Not a new idea to be sure but one of many that make the continued policing
of the substance redundant. It is very likely that legalization would make it harder to aquire in the schoolyard by removing the criminal element. It is indeed a battle that has been lost in terms of ever controlling the public's appetite for the substance and police resources are much better spent fighting the greater evils of more potent chemical drugs. Yet at the end of the day can the public handle another inebriating substance ? Shoot they are already.
