Comments on More soldiers die by suicide than in combat

    When Arlo sang about "Having been given a choice of joining the army, and becoming a man, traveling to distant, exotic, countries, making many new friends, and then KILLING them," and going to PRISON for littering, well it sorta took a bit of the shine off governmentally sanctioned pillaging, murdering, raping, and assassinating, regardless of how very attractive and honorable the recruiter had made "DIEing for yore country!" sound to your addled young mind. Unexpectedly, many young soldiers headed for southeast Asia, spontaneously, simultaneously, decided that perhaps, PRISON sounded preferable to the Army's only alternative! After that, the military/industrial complex had run out it's string, there was almost no more wealth left to steal, and our country was fed up with being lied to. How QUICKLY we forget! It's probably all happening again NOW. Sigh!
