Now see.............I'll bet you're from Georgia, or some other "peach state".

For me, oranges are more than just fruit.......they are sort of a archetypal image from my childhood.

We had the best orange tree in the world in our yard.  Good for climbing, good for hiding under, but mostly good for oranges.

Giant oranges........so juicy that your elbows would be drenched and sticky.

I miss those oranges.........nothing I have ever had since can compare; and sadly the tree fell prey to repeated hurricanes a few years ago.

All is not lost though.......my brother, who is is a tree grower himself, found another tree of the same rare hybrid and planted it last year in the same spot.

I understand your point though..........wild fruit is tits.

Lane,
If you want to experience the all time best explosion of huge taste, aroma, and wonderfully mixed flavors, it is possible to have and survive to tell about it, slowly bite into the season's first tree-ripened peach! It is nearly an orgasmic marvel. Sadly, oranges cannot compare to that. It's like comparing oranges and peaches!

PS Popping a whole handful of powdery looking wild blueberries, or those tiny little wild strawberries into your mouth, and chewing them up all at once, comes in a very close second, to a fully ripe peach.
