We need to learn to live within our means, but that is not likely and people will pay the higher interest rates even as they complain about it.

Pay cash I find that then I only buy what I can afford
If I do use a credit card then I only put an amount onto it that I can pay off before the end of the month so that I don't get caught with an interest bill and that also limits my spending to what I really want.
