Kabu

I know what you mean about not being able to give away books! I am the same way, they're all over the place, and they're taking over! Just here in my study I have over 3000, but they're in other rooms as well, and there are shelves and shelves in the basement! I know that many of them I will never read again will, and yet...

And what's this business with single socks? I have dozens and dozens of them - and I never wear socks , well, rarely...What happened to their partners? Did they just up and leave one day? Tired of domesticity, of commitment? Eager for adventure, ready to explore the world? Will they return some day to those they left behind? It's a mystery...

I am going through "stuff" at my house - for me mostly old papers, magazines... I am tired of having more than I need of everything.

Rain
I don't mind if socks don't match Kabu I counted a hundred and not one matched so I just grab the first two that come out easy these days. It will probably be a cult one day.

We had a lot of hail yesterday evening.  The temperature dropped 30 degrees in a matter of minutes.  I threw a book away yesterday and it killed me to do it.  LOL.  But, it was an old paperback that the pages were all falling out of.

I can part with anything, but never with a book, even if it is one I didn't really like. As you say, once in your hand, they become a friend.

Books are so precious---I too can't part with any! So glad Wiley is fine. Hope you're doing well too. Thanks very much for your comment! Nita

Nothing like a book, especially on a wet day. But they do tend to interrupt the gardening, gnomes, etc...

Kabu
I am the same I can't throw away, or even give away books.  They are my true friends, and I have piles, well some of them are lined up quite neatly, all over the place.  BUT I could throw out a whole lot of OTHER junk too, should do it, good for you!

reading is the perfect thunder storm activity.  And sleeping.  And listening to the ruckus outside knowing that you're warm and dry inside. Hope you had a great day....Mal

Kabu, I tried to do life cleaning, to fill plastic bins with treasures for
the storage shed and to end up with very few bins. Well, most are half filled and stacked all over the house now, messing it up even more.

I never made it to the final, take them out to the storage area and stack them. Sigh............I did get rid of lots, however. I have a small plastic swimming pool and put it out front and put old treasures into it with a for free and Gratis sign......all things left within hours tho' some took days for the new owners to find them.

I need help  in the last phase and a niece has promised to come help and I sure hope so, soon !!!

Then the house will be so easily vaccuumed and mopped and lived in. I am using Japan and Korea as examples of how much to own in a small home. I fail, but get closer to the best example each time I try.

Everytime I turn around there is clutter to clean!

It's weird how junk accumulates. Every time my father's office is cleaned new junk reappears in six weeks. We could use those guys from American Pickers to come by every week.

Books are candy to the mind, the heart, and the soul Grandmummy.  Happy reading!  Give my love to Poppy John and enjoy your coffee, knowing I am blessed by you both.

I never thought of doing that with my old socks.
Good idea!  Usually I just use them for polishing things, or once in a while I make sock puppets.  It never occurred to me that someone might actually want or need them.

I hope you enjoyed the book Kabu and I have tons of books - read and unread stacked up in shelves too. Don't have the heart to give them away - not yet. Coffee sounds good, think I will go make some and get to work.
