The department will probably be disguised under a different name but it will still be doing the same job - counting our money and squirreling it away.

It's either that or tear my hair out, staightforward, and that's thin enough.

I hadn't considered that point of view, Azur. They are definitely missing a trick. Hell, the country would become empty and they could close down most of the hospitals and old peoples homes.
I was surprised to find out when Ell turned 65 that she was eligible for the UK pension, but then she did pay NI for half her working life.

And apart from having to listen to the latest governmental crap, thousands of people have been apprised of facts they may not have known anything about. How long now before some lawyers advertise for the people involved to make a pressure group, especially now that the whole world is aware.

They are missing a trick aren't they?
Imagine, if it was indexed , how many more old farts would leave at once, and then Britain would save a boatload of money on providiing services. I received a letter a while ago saying how much I need to top up my NI in the time since I left so that my UK pension would be unaffected. By the time I receive mine, given I've a good many years to go, it won;t be worth much but then again you never know. I was pretty staggered that I qualify but then I suppose I paid taxes there for a long time.

Sometimes you just have to think those Brits,
at least the ones running things, are a merciless, flint-hearted lot. Insensitive of him to think a blatantly insincere apology would make up for anything. More likely to tick off everyone who hears the latest politically expedient load of crap.
