They are extremely painful and I guess it's happened one to many times because I'm finally numb to the whole thing. I feel nothing now.

If alcohol brings out the worst in him and that is his choice to imbibe, I think you are better off! I have never known anyone who has a bad side to them from alcohol to be trusting, they live for the drink! So sad for them! You need someone to nurture you, not the bottle! Just my humble thoughts! I was married to an alcoholic, just run the other way! sam
