Re: lol , faking being sincer,
Ah well actually, I suppose there are different degrees of two facedness and it's no longer a joke when it becomes destructive, but I was only really thinking of the kind that saves other people's feelings - sorry you became a victim Tzippy

lol , faking being sincer,
this is something I really have to think about it. Being a great liar, so thatt b you sound sincer. I have just been victimized by someone who played a sincere poor little me and I fell for it, not a good feeling, but I still will think about it.

Twain was UNsurpassed as both a writer AND a humorist! Oscar Wilde, nope!
Briony,
The old saw (probably NOT Twain's) that I really like, is in a similar vein. It says, "Sincerity is THE most important thing! Once you can believably fake being SINCERE, you've got it made!"
Oh yeah, Oscar Wilde, while having a rapier sharp wit, was quite mean-spirited and was always trying to have sex with other men. That makes me only one, for three! Take my word for this, I actually have never felt like losing my house, to another MAN! Ol' Oscar probably would have called this a quirk.

Re:
I too, often wonder what the world would be like if we all just said exactly what we were thinking (especially after phone calls to clients strangely enough!) but I think you're right, that would be somewhat of a fantasy!

I also have at least two faces ('one I keep in a jar' in my bathroom) and think this is the expectation for a woman, and we do keep the peace. I've never had the nerve to see for sure if reality is better than fantasy; my sneaking suspicion is that it might be once we all got over the shock. When I was a girl, before I was a woman, I wanted mightily to tell the truth, make reality come true, be myself all the time. Maybe that's the real fantasy.....
