Actually, it's just about having a lifestyle that sometimes leads to separation from our families. Some of the things I wrote about were taken from the experiences and comments of the Marines I took to Afghanistan. The poem is dedicated to my wife, specifically and all of our significant others generally, and it's as close as I can get to a love poem in a combat zone.

Powerful words indeed, I think your poem is trying to tell you that you are having a difficult time mentally coming to terms with what you saw and did in Afghanistan, please let me know if i'm on the right track ?. BF
