That's kind of the way our world works huh? I think you can apply that to anything: class, sex, race, status.  The group on top are always lookin through the  hazy fog, but comfortable as a opposed to the group below with less opportunities and benefits.

Hi, Sinome ~.~
You hit it right on the head. This piece was inspired by the devastation in Haiti. It made me think of the words of a poem set to choral music "... each man's death diminishes me because I am involved in mankind. So, therefore, never ask to know for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee." I believe we all should feel lessened because of Haiti's catastrophic event and moved to action. Thanks for commenting. Peace, blessings and understanding.~SS

You've very nicely summed up the words of one of my previous poems (Understanding - June 23, 2008).  Thanks for commenting. Peace, blessings and understanding.~SS

It is sad that so many live in the misery you speak of... The other night in the news covering Hati's disaster... there was a toddler captured by one of the cameras sitting in the middle of one of the devastated  streets.  He looked so alone, so lost, his big black eyes were as  you describe those eyes in your poem... large and vacant... as if his soul had been scared off him I have been dreaming with him since I saw that.  Wondering many of the things you speak of in this thought provoking poem ... and yes feeling a little guilty as well for being one of the "lucky ones" This is excellent work Soul.  Welcome back Soul...  I have missed you. ( hmmm I like that sentence for the title of a poem :-) )  Take care of  you  xoxoxo
