Thanks mneme. I'm glad I gave you a smile. We still do it after a fashion but nothing like it used to be like 60 years ago.

I still do the washing before New Year... and clean the house. Something to do with making a clean sweep of the year I suppose. I found this very entertaining..smiles.

Re: i dont understand the lum reek and others
The translation is easy - when you know how that is Tzippy - "A good New Year to one and all and long may your chimney smoke." In other words 'long may you have heat for your home.' HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO Tzippy.

Lum = Chimney and reek = smoke, Taps. I means
'may you always have heat in your home'.

What a fun read. I think I understood everything except "lum reek".

Re: Re: sam444
I'll give it serious consideration sam444; if I did get it finished by then it would give me an extra 13 days to tear my hair out.

It seems to take forever sam444. I have my breakfast at 8 am and suddenly it is 6.pm. The writing? Well, you know! We've had a festive season and all the other excuses I can think of. Seriously, I'm writing up character descriptions and histories and finding sensible names for them. I intend to have the whole novel finished by May 31st 2010. All the best to you for the coming year sam444.

Thank you Pat. I'll make my first rule for the present decade to be here at the end of it.
