Re: Rhanda,
Write away, myrrhage. Isn't part of the reason we read to become inspired to think and create?

Rhanda,
Your childhood story so far is very similar to mine.  We also moved numerous times and could barely afford to bring the clothes on our backs, let alone furniture, pots and pans, etc.  Moving meant starting completely over, with no support system whatsoever and usually no food or money.  And my mother has always worked, since she was 15 years old, all the way through college, through a marriage and divorce, and while raising me and earning her Master's Degree.  Now she is a librarian in a district whose local resources are drying up.  She won't have a job for long.  What's the solution?  Oh, I know!  Just move to another district!  Never mind the diabetes, the shingles, the psoriasis.  The new insurance in the new, local, district will cover her for all the preexisting stuff, right?  No? Well, she could just move again then, no big deal.  Of course, then she won't have a job, which means she'll be lazy, and everyone knows lazy people don't deserve relief.

A man my husband works with was lucky enough to be rehired by his previous employer after submitting 183 resumes in the course of three months all over the state.  McDonald's would not hire him as a manager because he was "over-qualified".

"Get a job or just move" indeed.  What a self-serving, judgmental attitude!  What happened to the idea of mutual respect, striving to understand differences, finding symbiotic compromises?  Where did all these holier-than-thou people come from? Does the Internet clone them through a binary system, or do they occur naturally as a genetic mutation and then house themselves in chat room cells like wasps?

Whew!  That was long-winded.  It's so refreshing to read a voice of reason, when so many want only to spout and react.

lol.  Sorry.  Guess I'll be back to visit your blog some more.

P.S.
I might write a post based on this comment and link it back to your blog.  That okay with you?

I hope the New Year brings jobs and security to those who have had none
for a while now...one doesn't know what it's like until they're hit with it.

One funny thing about moving.
No matter where you go, there you are.  Without internal changes, the external changes have little effect.
