I'd suggest girls in bikinis, but in the rain even that would be ineffective.
Just goes to show that no one solution works across the board for everyone. My husband ran a one-man towing business for about a year and a half. His prices were always lower than his "competition", but that didn't do much good because he mostly towed for one auto auction, who paid a pretty much set rate depending on distance. In the end when the gas prices skyrocketed the business went under. There simply wasn't enough volume to make up for expenses, enticing discounts or not.

That's a lot of rain per year! I just did a rainfall statistics check in Oregon. We get between 13 inches (where I live) and 54 inches a year. Our state is quite diverse in rainfall.

I can surely see your point here. I never go wash my car on a rainy day, and a discount wouldn't matter at all.

I thought you defended your position very well. I am enjoying the Susan Boyle songs, too! Her voice is so pure! sam

I mentioned this as I see a lot of places offering prices back to the 1990's which may not seem like a lot and a lot of companies offer senior discounts on certain days, we have a regular car wash that offers that with attendants. Now not being a business person I cant relate to much of this, and the rain and snow situation I cant relate to that either. I just know the places that do offer lower prices are getting more business. The gas station down the road without a car wash has the lowest prices around and you have to wait in line most the time. But I do understand a little bit more on the problem with changing the machines, and I am sorry I dont have an answer for that if I did I would love to give you the answer. Thanks for clearing this up for me

I think I agree with you. Either I need to wash my car or I don't. Discount wouldn't make much difference there.

A discount with a fill upalways grabs my attention – even if I just take a “rain check”.
