That it touched and brought pangs of sorrow was what it did to me when I read this short poem. It makes me glad that I was able to convey the correct feelings through the eyes of a soldier. Thank youi so very much  ~, my own encourager in you ~ Aba.

How true this sounds, seeing through the eyes of a soldier --- this touched my heart with such pangs of sorrow.  I feel so much for our soldiers - the troops and I pray for them every moment I can - ~ Aba, you bring such interesting - thought provoking blogs ---  but this one made me sad ~ Ely  ~

I really don't know what to say because I saw my young soldier son in that poem. The charge to win, the conditions nothing but hell for that is war. It is amazing regarding the soldier, he is doomed to die, but he longs for a happy time so reflects the inner conflict of man in general for me! We want the best life has to offer but attainment is through the sacrificial lamb as it were! I think of all the young men and women who have died throughout history and I ponder if we are better off or if it has become a way of life. sam

Reminded me of my father who served in the First World War, in the trenches with the rats, a Canadian sergeant paymaster, used by the British as cannon fodder when they were losing or thought they were. They took Australians too, any military trade, cooks, drivers, but they didn't have to be front line soldiers. That was some poem though because my dad and four of his boys were soldiers, I was one of them. You have a great blog, even if sometimes I struggle with understanding some

the tragic truth forthese humans these individual men and women
is that if they do make it back hometheir lives are chamged forever. That whish they dreamed about is somehow lost in the trauma of what they were forced to become and to witness.I love your work dear friend.

...everyone faces death every moment...in one respect, the soldier is fortunate...he knows it...while the rest of us live as though we have unlimited hours...moon
