Men of valor, that is it in a nutshell! To fight for under a sense of duty is by far the best way to be! My young son, a soldier, is that way at 25. Makes one proud of these types of individuals for they are a rare breed! Thank you for your kind comment, it has been a bit difficult of late! The Lord will direct the outcome, though! I believe that! Although I did not sleep that well, I still trust Him explicitly! sam

Actually, such an apropos study to bring forth ... well worth the read and I thank you Aba for bringing it to us with such concise delivery.  You amaze me with all you find to offer.  I find many that die as such, in this manner as martyrs actually ~ This blog brought some ponderance to me - considering all those whom do suffer by war - by hostility - by conflict and I thank you for touching my heart ~ Ely

Nishkama karma, or Naishkarmya, is the highest flowering on the Tree of Karma, that is, attaining to non-work for the self that entails no fruit of karmic actions, good or bad, but for lokasangraha - for the good of the poeples.

You are correct in your assessment, that was their mentality then. Can't say whether it has changed over time.

I do believe the Empire didn't give enough credit to the brave people
from around the world who were recalled by Engladn ...the mother....to fight with and for her.   .....I could go on....
