Re:
I know what you mean.  Prior to a class I took on C. S. Lewis, where the prof made Lewis come to life, I too had never been a fan.  However, I am forever hooked on his books - fiction and non.  Thank you for your kind comments.

Wow, Kabu - thank you so much for such an encouraging comment.  I really do not know what to say in return.

Re: Janey
WileyJohn - I do see your point.  Maybe the difference in perspective lies in that Lewis was a bachelor until late in life.  Or, his search for joy was really his search for relationship with the God of the universe which really cannot be grasped this side of eternity.  Thank you for your comment.  I love hearing your thoughts.

Janey

You write a beautiful post that makes me think. I'm not sure I agree with Lewis about his thoughts on 'Joy' because I do believe one can grasp joy after being blessed with the experience of happiness. Now I may lose the happiness for a time, but I can make it return to me by remembering the experience of joy.

For instance yesterday I can tell you how imbued I was with happiness and joy for having received a telephone message from my daughter Eileen. Now today I was not entirely 'happy' for a time, but I meditated on what I had felt yesterday in talking with Eileen, and that brought the joy back with the happiness. Sorry if I went on too long luv.
