What a powerful poem and to this day we tend to look down on the “beggar” thinking he/she has not risen to a certain standard. (Thank you for faithfully stopping by my blog and leaving such heart-felt comments. I appreciate it and value your encouragement).

Wouldn't it be wonderful to know all about this old man
I believe there must have been more to him than the village beggar...such respect. The poor house was a terrible place...people just died there. A prison for being destitute.
Even today there are people who would prefer to die surrounded by nature, just freeze on a cold night. HMNNNNN i think it might be rather nice.
