You make a reasonable case.

I wish to make a case against unreasonable divisiveness, uninformed readiness to demonize the "other".  What I am saying is that there is a segment of Christians that say that the whole Muslim world is hell-bent on the destruction of the U.S., much like Geo. W. was inferring.

It doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes to realize that there really is no threat to our way of life, like Nazi Germany.  What the U.S. has to deal with is radical ideologues feeling that the only way to bring the World's attention to the abject poverty of about 2/3 of the population is violence.  That is not the answer.

Gandhi and Martin Luther King demonstrated that peaceful means can bring more results than violence.

Those who resort to violence will reap violence ("he that takes up the sword shall die by the sword").  This is seen throughout the world.  Conflicts continue because parties feel that violence is the only answer -- the only solution.

While the U.S. cannot allow violence to harm our populace, the U.S. also has to seek the answers to that violence, the causes, and there are quite a few.  Take away the cause and you take away the excuse and violence is left inexcusable.

This is a two-way street, where the "terrorists" have to cease violence, and the causes have to eliminated.

It is also a two-way street, where uninformed attitudes can only lead to more violence.  As with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the violence can be unending.  What we all should want is an end to the violence.

Eliminate the root causes, meet unreasonable force with force, and see clearly and without bias the world situation.

The position taken by certain bloggers and the perception expressed can only help to perpetuate the violence.  Because of their ignorance, conflict could result in many more deaths and maiming of people on all sides of the conflict.  The blood of thousands, in essence, is on the hands of those who advocate more violence and are prejudiced toward the Moslem World.

DO YOU KNOW HOW STUPID AND DUMB YOU SOUND?

X man you confuse ideology with reasoning.  Do you think that everyone who challenges your thoughts is a rabid conservative bent on killing Muslims? When, in truth, most of  us just desire to live out our short existences in this world in a calm and peaceful manner.

I submit it's the ones who have to divide the world into left/right synchronicity that wind up being confused and - sounding dumb and stupid, and that's on either side.  We independents do what we can, say what we think best and vote correctly when, possible, for someone who is truly an independent thinker.

Obama neither a thinker; nor is he intellectually prepared for the world of international political nuance that is so vital.  We cannot change matters as they presently stand, but changes come swiftly and unbidden.  The ME is a symbol of that way of thinking; enemies today, comrades-in-arms tomorrow, bought off by both sides.  But I contend that our semi-christian way of life, a Republic that is threatened, and a willing people to do what it takes to preserve and protect that way of life.

If that chaps your lips, so be it.  Persevere.  joab

Xeno
Definitely, IMHO, it should not be considered as hatred for Christians, as many may construe. To me, you Xeno, do sound balanced and tolerant. Muslims are conservative, fanatics, fascists, and what not, but a small percentage of them; their belief that one must come to the folds of the prophet to be salvaged, the same fanaticism is seen in the other religion too. To me it is as if like the small-time fights in the clans of deep jungles. If I win, then my god is bigger and more powerful than yours type of mentality.

SO ALL OF YOU ARE READY TO GO OUT AND FIGHT A BILLION PEOPLE
That's sure as hell what it sounds like.

I'm not the one who sounds stupid.  I am attempting to put a voice of reason here to counter all the uninformed voices I hear on this site.  All the biased and prejudiced voices that falsely portray another religion as evil.  There is not a shred of evidence to support what you say.

But all you have to do in order to show me as dumb and uninformed is to present valid statements -- evidence to back up what you say.

And I say you can't.

DO YOU KNOW HOW STUPID AND DUMB YOU SOUND?
X man -- do you know just how stupid your remarks sound?  You give no one else any latitude -- even the latitude of being in opposition to your philosophy.  Oh yes!  I realize you and your ilk pray for the destruction of the Reublican Party.  But know what?  Seeing the progressives' proclivity for devouring their "enemies", all of you would soon turn on yourselves and feast on your own political thighbones.  Go to it!  Nothing is going to "cloud" your mind because you have seen the light at the bottom of the kool aid glass when you emptied it.  I don't dislike you; I don't envy you; and I surely don't desire to emulate you.  But it's a free world for a while longer, so I'll stick to my independent streak.  joab

Re: Re: No, I Do Not
the religion itself does NOT attack us YOu want to check history?  If Mohammedanism were as you insinuate, then we wouldn't have such churches as as the Holy Sepulchre or The Nativity or other Christian sacred sites in the Holy Land.  Nor would you have the Jewish Quarter in Jerusalem.  Historically, the Muslems have respected the Jews and have allowed them much respect and high positions in their society (whereas Christianity has called them Satan's Children and persecuted, tortured and killed them, driving them from one end of Europe to the other -- and today good American Christians have hatred for Jews).

The problem is about a century and a half old, with Zionists displacing Palestinians from the land and European colonial powers invading and oppressing the locals and dividing up the land in unnatural ways.  The West has prospered while Africa and the Middle East and much of Asia live on the fringes of this prosperity.

This is the reason for the difficulties, not religion.  Those who engage in terrorism use religion as an excuse -- that's all.

And the soldiers who serve?  They experience, not only terrorist activities, but resistance from the indigent people who consider this as an invasion of their land.  Religion is used only as an excuse.  The "Jihad" is simply a tool of radical elements to provide a purpose for their intentions and help foment hatred among the dissatisfied.

If Mohammedanism were indeed at war with Christianity, those forces we have scattered among Muslim countries would pretty well be obliterated.  Remember, it's 1 1/3 billion.  That is 1,300,000,000 people.  If what you say were true, there would be several million, if not tens of millions of people fighting against us.  Instead, there are less than a hundred that anyone can recognize.

And you haven't shown anyone differently.

Re: No, I Do Not
RSM....Of course he does.....X-man is not anti-religious....he's anti-Christian and pretty much anti-American.   Any religion that is willing to attack us is "OK by him"!

No, I Do Not

Stupid and dumb? Let me start by saying that I enjoyed everything that you discarded, not involved and excluded here. I guess if I eliminated everything from the threat then I could come to your conclusion. Would you not agree?

However, there was so much in this post that you did not say that you rendered the Muslim threat to basically an attack from nothing. I would not have expected anything short of this coming from the "progressive" (HA) liberal thought process.

Why don't you ask a soldier how much of a threat it is to our way of life? Why don't you ask a Marine how many are radicals? Obviously enough would you not say? You make it sound as though our military is fighting about 20 radicals.

Your hatred towards Christians is evident in every post you create. I am not sure why. You seem to mock everything involving Christianity and Christians themselves. You also have a knack for twisting scipture as well. From your admission that you have suggested that Christians do not defend themselves, this nation or their way of life can only equal that you have chosen to side with the Muslim radicals. So, do you?
