I don't think the poor lady was at all trying to be callous. There are so many people who assume because they simply don't understand. I forgive her, and I think Mum did too.

Wow...that must have been interesting to witness...such a surreal exchange. I can't imagine anyone being quite so blunt or callused. Your mother sounds like she handled it with a lot of grace.
