Thanks for explaining the pigeon pair thing at my blog, Kabu...
I've also heard that called the king's choice, or the royal choice. A daughter to marry well and put the family in a good circle, and a son to carry on the dad's name and perhaps continue the family business. I think the notion of using marriage to build business associations has gone out the window.

Before reading this post, I tried to remember what I had commented yesterday to the first post and I couldn't remember.  On looking back, I found that I had gotten away without commenting.  LOL.  What's that tell you?  Anyway, because you write beautifully, I am enjoying this story, but you have me worried about your mother.

Kabu
This is a lovely story. I am a bit saddened by your mother's behavior, is she ill or what? I have more patience now, love those grandbabies. I loved my children with all my heart but I was afraid I would not do this or that right.

These stories warm my heart. Thanks for your comment and yes, I'll be your manager provided I have some success.

This is great . My Dad loved his gradnchildren too. My Mother was a teacher of grade one and would have up to thirty children in her class but she was always so hopeful to see us at every opportunity and my chilsdren had so much extra love from them. I am most grateful to this legacy from them and try to pass it to my family too. Thanks for sharing Miss Kabu!

sounds like she was a wee bit jealous, I feel my mom was jealous of me and my relationship with my dad.  She loved her grand kids and even her step grand kids treated them all the same.

I never heard the term "pigeon pair," and would like to know what that is.
But it's wonderful for kids to have loving grandparents even if one is a worry-wart. Gives them a sense of perspective and long-time connections to family.

Kabuiepie-;)
Your Dad was a saint. A pigeon pair? Sheesh, first time I ever heard of one with handle/one without, like that. LOL I'm like you mum was, anxious when they are around but that doesn't happen anymore so being grumpy Grandy pays off.Interesting post love
