How true
The same thing happened to Richard one year way back in the days before me. He said that he raised a calf from early on and when he had it slaughtered and they put up the meat, it just kept getting bigger and bigger in his mouth every time he ate it.

Maybe you could tell them it's doing their part for wildlife..? This reminds me of my protest, buying the free-range (and expensive) eggs in the weekly grocery shop for the family. I felt sorry for the other hens though. The only way to stop that practice is to stop buying eggs .. I suppose it's this kind of thinking that turns us vegetarian (vegan, even).

This is your prize winner. I love it. I suggest you find Hulda and bring her home to dinner. You may want to serve cracked corn. Oh maybe you can invite local Peta friends to join her. Let us know how it goes. 'What's in a Name?" Now I know.

I agree! Since Hulda is now practically a member of your family, for you to eat turkey would be nothing short of intra-tribal cannibalism, the worst kind...But as someone else already suggested, I think it was Elyse, there is always tofu...

I'm sure they won't like it.

Make sure you don't give that a name either.

Re: So who is this Hulda anyway?
Pat_B, I forget that most bloggers don't read my other blogs. The recent history of Hulda is combined in these places:
Go to Turkey Trot
Go to Too Fat For The Bird Feeder
Go to Come Into My Parlor...

Only you, Taps. Only you would be faced with the dilemma of having named the turkey. LOL

So who is this Hulda anyway? I know you aren't fattening your own
turkey in your apartment. And you wouldn't name a frozen Butterball. I can see you forming meat loaf into a turkey shape around the stuffing and singing an old song.

Okay, so TOFU turkey roll would be good? Oh my...I can't help but try to hold back a laugh, but you have made a mess of it now ~ I can truly understand --- Meatloaf is good! ~ I'll have to tell you of Arnold --- a friends pet pig and Arnold's demise --- one holiday - as bacon on our plates.

~ I have never looked at bacon the same again. nor porkchops, nor --- well it can get to you. Hulda is special ~ she's brought conviction ~

I have literally fallen of the couch laughing. You know, I did think of
this at the Baptismal font but being the witch I am I said nothing. Oh this post is precious. I can just see all those stunned faces as they gaze at their plates. Meat loaf and Cranberry sauce. HA Ha lol there I go again. Oh stop it, my sides are aching.
