Pat_B I know the Olympics are tainted with politics and drugs but yes it is the pursuit the ideal.

Ohhhh...this reminded me of a man in our town that ran with the torch in his hand. A counsellor at a school for troubled adolescents...it was inspirational, to say the least. Thank you for bringing that back to my mind...a sweet memory...he was my neighbor's son...she was 85 and sooo proud of her boy!

Sweetie I'll be listening for your cheer as it passes over Alabama on the way to Florids. I will know it by your Aussie accent. You are a lovely lady.

Kabuiepie-;)
Wonderful post love very educational for me. I think you take a little poetic license with "a country of a few million people" when it's 20million but never mind. LOL
You are aware I personally think darlin', the Olympic Games are a farce, it's all about who has the best steroids, and the world allowed Hitler to use the Olympics to enlarge himself and the sicko's he governed.
They should have stopped the Olympic Games that very year, forever, no more politics.
Of course I come from Montreal, a city that is still paying through taxation for it's hosting of the Olympic Games.

It is something that stirs the imagination, isn't it.
Maybe it has to do with the pursuit of excellence...
