I created a lot of wonderful memories while I was young and now I live in them. This is but a phase of life that is as good as the young ones just different. It is another path guided by the mind.

Old age can be the dessert of life! At least for those of us lucky enough to still have an appetite. Thanks for your visit and kind comment.

"Wisdom offers a deeper understanding of Life, " reminds me of my favorite verse:
The fear (to revere) (of )the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight... Proverbs
I'd rather seek Wisdom than beauty; for yes, in my youth, I had a passion for anything, everything, but, now as I mature (okay, get older)  then I find Wisdom is more (was more) my life-time 'friend' and passion comes in more balanced (ebbed) waves ~ making all more enjoyable to age.   I'm comfortable in a steady, ambling stride --- slow and easy ~ (I even talk this way too) and I enjoy watching the younger...I truly enjoy ~
I tell you Abanerjee, you totally inspire me.  You give so much from your heart for all here to ponder and enjoy ~ I struggled (since my 30's) with getting older and now (in my 50's) I am finally at ease - embracing and accepting Life and all it brings.  This poem touches me.  I read, as hear the plead and I know of this.  Goodnight Aba ~ I am off to seek the night blossom as a rose; the moon as the Dove ~ preened and vividly shining this night  ~ Ely

Re: Kabu
That's the spirit, the graceful lady that you are, the fantastic couple that you both are, the love that both of you have for all and sundry, are all so fulfilling, so we all know that at least for you and Wiley sir, there will be no regrets, ever. Jogging? That's sumthing2gr8.

when I die no body will be able to say poor thing never went anywhere,
never did anything. I hit the ground running and I may be getting older but still jogging happily along. Yes, the tragedy is if a life is wasted.

A beautiful poem Abanerjee. With growing old you somehow gain wisdom by seeing the beauty in it. Loved the whole summary. Great Job yet once more.

Wisdom and passion is what its all about. I wouldnt be ten years younger for the world....I've earned every speck of wisdom...(usually the hard way!)

Is old age pitiably beggarly?
Not if one understands the true meaning of what is, humorously called, "old age."  Beggarly is the youth who wasted precious,  irretrievable, moments that, once passed, never come that way again.   They are the ones who, in my opinion, are not prepared for a certain wisdom that God gives us as a "cosmic" pocket watch, with our life's work engraved upon it.  joab

That's a beautiful poem.  I've never read it before.  Thank you for bringing it to my attention.  And, your comments about it are so well done.  Even though I am nearing what I consider old age, I do so without fear and with a sense of beauty for that time of life, always remembering that "...the best is yet to be, the last of life for which the first is made..."
