Hack

Yep! It's horrible and disgusting, but I'm very pessimistic. It's going to get a lot worse, I'm afraid. The reasons? We have created (not intentionally, but created nonetheless) a permissive, anything-goes culture in which all values are merely 'relative values'. And the reasons for that? Do you have a few years?

It doesn't make the news when people do help

because that's normal. People not helping is unusual, that's why the media was interested

When I heard of this my gut instinct is that it's all caused by the threat of violence.  That threat is like an uncontrollable bolt of pain in that it trumps free will immediately. The force and criteria behind rape as I understand it takes the form of an ultimatum, if you comply we won't hurt you.  I wonder how much that girl really fought back.  The only solution I see is to empower citizens beyond the norm, but aren't we too meek and modest for that? I can only pray she'll survive and that's never enough.

this world is scary

. Who is running the system. When Gangsters  feel free to rape or murder in public view. Could it be, People have lost faith in the justes system. that releases rapist and murders to the streets. This (I didn't see anything)  statement, needs to be addressed. I do not believe twenty boys were rapist at heart. There was something else happening. That was a message to another gang. Or a group of boys being put to a test . Something scary is happening to our children. Our kids can't be this evil. If my daughter would stand, and watch something like that and not call the police, or me. She would not get back out. This is so upsetting to me. our neighborhood is getting so out of control that the papers are now doing a weekly update on crimes. They post the same arrests photo's, monthly. same faces. I have heard rumors that some of the police here in town have been threaten by gang members to back off, and they have. This is big, I hope the girl recovers. and Can put them away. I think the witnesses should be charged with something. this has to stop.

I am literally near vomiting from reading this.  That poor girl is permanently scarred.  It's equally disgusting that so many were even capable of this act, and shameful that we don't keep our own children safe from the evil that places like Darfur face on a daily basis.
