What a thoughtful post, Kabu.
This is so true. Life's funny like that, isn't it...feast of famine, ebbing and flowing. Five years ago I was buying my children motorcycles and cars for their birthdays; this year my honey says how are we going to do Christmas, and we had to do some rearranging of the finances. God is good, in that He lets us see both sides. That is an extraordinary...blessing.

Once you are comfortable & money is not an issue anymore, it brings a smile to go down memory lane & remember the times when a lot had to be done with little......a real balancing act! Ah! shoes are a common obsession with women it seems! I have a huge collection!

So you didn't want to write about shoes, did you? Perhaps it's handbags that were on your mind? Congrats on your page on authorsden. I just found you and sent you a message. About scraping: with me it's excatly the other way around. My parents were well off, so I wanted for nothing and whilst I was "laywering" I made big bucks too, but since I became a writer with no steady income, I have to look after the pennies. I don't find that hard though, because I'm doing what I really love to do.

we didnt really struggle that way until I was divorced and after I had my third child, but as you know she never did without. I am struggling now but I am hoping that will change soon. I have ooodles of shoes and clothes, and I buy more even if I have no place to wear them.

I have been in similar positions
where debts mounted monthly and there was never a penny spare. Things seem to be on an even keel now, but I still seem to have instincts from then, and so I squirrel my pennies away for when the next financial winter comes

Kabu
I remember so well those days when I was living pay cheque to pay cheque – scraping by and doing it all on my own because I was a single parent. And then I caught a break – a wonderful promotion. And so the shoe collection began….
Isn’t in grand to be a position where money isn’t a huge worry (at least not like it used to be).

Hi Kabu--I just love this! You are so right-I can relate entirely to what
write about the past! How lovely it is
now-not to have to worry about money!!!! It's a good reminder to me and Iguess to us all-what it was like-way back then! Good to know you are enjoying life! God bless. Chris.
