I see the plot is moving ahead. Trouble's coming.
One little question. Would an SS officer apologize, as in "sorry for the inconvenience" in light of the paranoia that precedes a vital operation? Wouldn't it be more dramatic to make him obnoxious so your agent must suppress resentment?
And here's a nit-picky thing -- Three blankets? I'm thinking they'd need a lot of storage space to provide 3 blankets, sheets & pillows to everyone. In wartime they'd be lucky to get one blanket, let alone sheets and a pillow.
