Sanity does return once the dust settles. May the Lord guide your daughter and son-in-law to peace and happiness!

Well said, so much damage is done in these relationships ... nicely expressed, and I like the title .. says it all really:)
For what it's worth, I'm a different person away from my ex, and your daughter will be too, when she is free of all the negativity that alcoholism brings.  He may even shape up if she does exit, sometimes it takes just that, to make an alchoholic turn his or her life around.

That final that's enough is tough to do. She'll know I pray when it is
really finished.

Anything addictive is poison.  I will send some good vibes towards your daughter to be able to get through this. Alcoholism comes accompanied by an entire throng of other maladies. Not a good time.

This could be a challenging subject, and there you go writing with great ease of "pretty bottles and fancy labels". The meaning of it all can be deadly. Such a fine edge in excellent poetry.

Such a powerful look at difficult situations and relationships....Addictions can be so alluring and destructive....fancy things can entice and wreck faster than anything else....Excellent poem!!!  A good warning to any who read it±

God bless your daughter --- May she find strength; this is so truthful in its poetic declaration that it just about brought me to my knees - I tip my heart to you, you wonderful Mamma for writing for a voice that is quelled, more suppressed.   I give you Love, Shelly ~ Elyse

Pretty Bottles And Fancy Labels
Unrequited love can tear people apart, especially when that love is unconditional.  I felt the emotion (controlled) that came through.    joab

Very insightful poem... I loved the repeated refrain
and I hope your daughter finds the strength she needs, happiness is out there just waiting for her to go and find it

Appearances are deceptive! Fancy packaging can't hide the damage this poison does.May God give your daughter courage & determination to settle the issue.

Shelley I do hope your daughter has the determination to exit from such a hopeless relationship. It must be a terrible worry for you too on top of all your other worries.

"Madness brings about sanity in its own peculiar way", a very wise quotable qoute. Excellent poetic refrain in advising the refrainment from alcoholism that doesn't let love grow. And am I happy for your dear daughter ... .
