Tears relieve the pressure of sadness. It takes a long time to reach the point where you do not miss your parents so much. Especially Mother. Cherish your dog while she is stll around. Give her an extra pat for me.

for some reason it was easy to cry for my dad and when I went to church the church service would make me think of him and I would cry, but I never really cried for my mom

This is exactly what I found with my parents deaths. I would have what you
so truthfully describe as a therapy cry at the oddest times. It is nearly twenty years since they died so now I believe it has reached a levelof acceptance as good as it gets.Now I look forward to seeing them again some day.
