Re: FormerStudentIntern
I loved that book. Plus I even listened to the audio book. That was fun too.

Ah, but TAPS the richness of your character reads more eloquently than many a book on a library shelf can. You've been writing a beautiful book all along. Still, it is disconcerting when one lets go of that which was perhaps "not meant to be".

It's never too late to start. Frank McCourt got his memoir (
Angela's Ashes) published at 66.

Perhaps it's important to see why it didn't happen and take it from there?

There's still time. I read recently of an author who wrote her first book at the age of 91 - and got it published! Thank you for your comment on my blog of yesterday. What a terible and painful experience for you all.

Taps
Whenever I think of you writing a book I think of it as being slightly Andy Rooney style (I mean that in a positive way). Rather than it being a novel, I see it as being a collection of your anecdotes, family stories, and observations of the world. It would be a wonderful pick it up, put it down, and pick it up again a little later kind of book.

Some people write for a liviing, some for love--
love of writing, love of a story or a subject, love of those who are meant to read it. Some people make a living out of writing for love. That's the luck bit, I think.

Taps
I'm with Pat_B on this one, Taps, but you don't want to write a novel that people MUST read. You want to write a book that people WANT to read.

TAPS, I adore this writing --- and I simply understand. It's a big world out there and I, like you feel like hmmmm...what more could I add? But, I tell you, I pray you save your writings from these pages (whatever you choose) because, it is so important for your children, your family to have...I have trunks full of beginnings and all ~ and have told my eldest and my youngest gals that they are welcome ~ (even if they would like to keep warm from a good fire

) LOL ~ all jokes aside, I admire your writing style, gift and down home flavor. You're inviting to a soul and I feel cozy, at home while I read you. xoxox Elyse

Taps - It's a shame you have not written a book yet!! I really thought you would have some to your name by now. Your poetry is so beautiful and you are good at writing and keeping the readers enthused. You really should do it dear Taps. That quote ( I can't remember the whole thing now) is so appropriate.

Don't give up. How many books became best sellers and the author was surprised more than any one of his readers. Seems writing runs in the family. Keep positive attitude

Your blogs are terrific, so why shouldn't you succeed in writing and publishing a book? However blogging is a worthwhile art in itself, isn't it?

I would read a book by you TAPS. I think it would be interesting!
There are so many novels that I have started and never finished. Lack of confidence is my reason. An idea for a childrens book has been teasing my brain lately. I wrote some ideas in my journal but haven't done anything else about it. I'm unemployed at the moment. You would think I would jump at the opportunity to get something written with all this time on my hands!

TAPS -- There's no doubt you have the talent with words
and a finger on the pulse of what makes people tick (and tic). You've been in training here on Blogit for at least the few years I've been here. You touch your readers, make them eager to return and see what you'll write each day.
If this idea's been nibbling at your consciousness, then no doubt a whole lot more is in those file drawers of your mind just waiting for you to take out a folder and coordinate your notes. Blogit's a great place to get a wide range of feedback and float trial balloons. Go for it!

Well TAps... I can't speak of your timing for I am afraid that is something you alone would have knowledge of, (though I suspect that timing in itself is something that we must make happen rather than wait for it to spring open in front of us... )As for patience ...Gawd knows you possess it in abundance... having raised your boys and helped raise your grand kids...having been married for so long and gone through all the other things you have, over the months, shared with us here in Blogit... Last but not least, as for the quality of the material you could offer and the willingness of people to read your book... I can sincerely say that I and most I know would buy anything you write over most of the books out there now a days... Have you seen the junk that has lately made the best seller lists??? Its become that its connections and not talent that influence most critics and selection committees... and besides... who cares about them? . Its never too late to write that book darling and you SHOULD write it because you have so much to say and say it so beautifully. That is my opinion... for what is worth... :-) xoxoxo
