I am talking about your claims that the economy is failing.  Not public opinion polls.

And if want to talk about polls, remember ol' Bushie had the lowest rating.

Re: WASPS' DOOMSDAY PRONOUNCEMENTS FALL FLAT
I have to agree with you, Joab3, that Congress (no one excluded) is not doing the job it should do.  No one of either of the major political parties is working honestly for the best outcome for all Americans.

I think, if you understand what I'm saying, that it is obvious that the President's detractors, on Blogit and elsewhere, paint a drear scenario for our present and for the immediate future and beyond under President Obama.  They use such things as unemployment figures to say that the President is doing an awful job.  Yet there hasn't been time for the early efforts at astabilizatoin to take effect, he is struggling against a mess left by his predecessor, who, by many accounts, is just about the worst president we've ever had, and other efforts are met with stiff, illogical oppositon.

There's a lot to be said about te major political parties -- that the Republican has been taken over by a right-wing fringe that hampers enlightened action; that the Democrat Party has been cowed into near submission by the aggressive, attack-dog tactics of the extreme Right (which is given more power than its numbers warrant), and has itself shifted to the Right, leaving many progressives without a viable option -- just, as has been the case since time immemorial, the "lesser of two eveils", which obviously is the Democrat Party.

There are better ideas out there, but their representatives are too weak to really do anything.  The nearest to progressive thought is the Democrat Party.

WASPS' DOOMSDAY PRONOUNCEMENTS FALL FLAT

That would be marvelous; however I remain a skeptic regarding either party.  I'm reminded of when we were kids and had "top battles".  Draw a circle in the dirt, wind up the string on your favorite top and spin it into the circle to do battle with your opponent's top by pitting them against one another.  One time one top would win; but, the very next time, it could be struck from the circle -- so the proposition was equal.  Angle and speed were the strategies.  Well, "angle" and "speed" reminds me of what is transpiring in Congress and the Administration.  Angles being played (on all sides) and "speed" to rush the entire package through Congress.

I am not crying doom -- far from it.  Our patriarch arrived in the colonies in the early 1700s and members of our family have fought in every war.  One of ours was killed in Jamestown; yet we fought cousin against cousin in that war.  From that moment, at least one of ours has taken up arms in defense of this nation.

So do I foresee a doomsday? Our nation will survive this episode. But this country does need to examine its conscience; however not those imposed upon it by its adversaries.  Our failure is guarantee of their success.  As a people, as a nation, self-examination is critical; but it must be done justly and not just to look for the failings.  Thus, we expand on the good and begin to eradicate the bad.  And evil is a pestilence, once it has a foothold it becomes almost impossible to contain.  Only vigilance will keep watch.

Sorry about the lengthy reply, but the post(and it was good) was critical to me.    joab
